A workshop of watercolor wildlife drawing held by one of the most important wildlife artists around, author of many works showed in the most famous handbooks and field, together with a professional ornithologist.
We will stay in a “agriturismo” in the countryside of Syracuse and explore some of the most interesting birding sites of eastern Sicily.
“Armed” with palette and brushes, we will alternate naturalistic drawing and birdwatching. It is not therefore the classic drawing workshop because, while the participants will learn the artistic techniques under the wise guidance of Szabolcs, our ornithologists will provide them with all the information necessary to recognize, learn about and love the protagonist species of their tables.
Equipment required: Block of sheets of watercolor paper (Fabriano type), basic set for watercolor with palette, colors and brushes.

More than 60 species of birds, including: Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), Eurasian Spoonbill (Platalea leucorodia), Glossy Ibis (Plegadis falcinellus), Eurasian Stone-curlew (Burhinus oedicnemus), Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii), Slender-billed Gull (Chroicocephalus genei), Western Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio), Spectacled Warbler (Sylvia conspicillata), Unspotted Starling (Sturnus unicolor).
Sicily boasts endemic and extremely interesting species, among them: Sicilian Green Toad (Bufotes boulengeri siculus), Mediterranean Painted Frog (Discoglossus pictus), Ocellated Skink (Chalcides ocellatus), Sicilian Wall Lizard (Podarcis waglerianianus), as well as incredible number of invertebrates (mainly butterflies, dragonflies and beetles) and wild flowers.
DAY 1: Appointment in Catania. Transfer to Syracuse. Lunch in “agriturismo” and welcome briefing. Lesson in the garden. Plein air lesson and birdwatching at Vendicari Nature Reserve. Dinner and overnight in “agriturismo”.
DAY 2: Plein air lesson. Breakfast. Free visit of Syracuse and lunch. Lesson in the garden. Plein air lesson at Priolo Saltpans. Dinner and overnight in “agriturismo”.
DAY 3: Plein air lesson. Breakfast. Free visit of Noto and lunch. Lesson in the garden. Plein air lesson at Vendicari Nature Reserve. Transfer to Catania, dinner and overnight in hotel.
DAY 4: Breakfast. Free visit of Catania. Departures.

PENALTIES IN CASE OF CANCELLATION: In case of contract termination by the consumer, the penalties are equal to 100% of the entire participation fee, in addition to the non-refundable insurance premiums.
INSURANCE AGAINST EXPENSES OF CANCELLATION AND REPATRIATION: It is possible, and indeed advisable to stipulate at the time of booking at the special insurance policies at the offices of the organizer against the costs arising from the cancellation of the package, from injuries or illnesses, which also cover repatriation and loss costs and / or damage to baggage.
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: Min 3 – max 16
If the minimum group is not reached, or in case of organization cancellation, it will be refunded the entire amount paid.
Participants who, for personal reasons, decide not to participate in the event anymore will not be entitled to any refund, except for those who have taken out a tailor made insurance with the agency (for more info contact the organizers).
