Located north of Rome, the Torre Flavia coastal wetlands are a true biodiversity hotspot along the Roman coast.
Established at as a Special Protection Area, Torre Flavia hosts well-preserved wetlands and transitional environments, such as coastal ponds, large reed beds and dunes, which are of fundamental importance for birds throughout the year. Furthermore, thanks to the conservation measures implemented in recent years and the valuable support of the local population, the Torre Flavia dunes are a real stronghold for some threatened plant and animal species, such as the Sea Daffodil (Pancratium maritimum) and the Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus).
During the tour, accompanied by a professional zoologist, we will explore this treasure chest of biodiversity just a few steps from the Eternal City, focusing on birdwatching and observing other organisms that find an ideal habitat in coastal environments, as well as their traces and remains left on the shoreline.
