Ponza is the largest island of the Pontine Archipelago and has rugged rocky coasts formed by tuff and kaolin, evidence of its volcanic origin. Thanks to its typically Mediterranean vegetation, alternating with cultivated fields, as well as Posidonia meadows and other underwater environments, it hosts a rich biodiversity both above and below sea level.
The birdwatching day trip on the Island of Ponza offers, especially in spring and autumn, the opportunity to observe an extraordinary variety of species and individuals of Birds that use the Pontine Islands as a stopover site during migration. In summer, however, the tour is mainly focused on nesting species linked to the Mediterranean scrub and cliffs, such as the Peregrine Falcon, the Shag, the Sardinian Warbler and the Blue Rock Thrush. Upon request, it is possible to include a visit to the bird ringing station (available from March to May).
In the company of an expert local biologist, we will discover curiosities and ecological peculiarities not only of Birds but also of other animal and plant species present on the island. The tours are available in Italian, English and German.

An excursion to discover the island’s nature at 360 degrees. The volcanic origins of Ponza will be explored in depth, with observation of geological formations such as tuff cliffs and stacks. Some of the typical Mediterranean plants will be illustrated, including Lentisk, Erica multiflora and Carob. Participants will acquire a clear understanding of the flora, fauna and dynamics of the ecosystem. The excursion is suitable for all nature lovers and is also accessible to families, declining the experience according to the age of the little ones.

Snorkeling offers the opportunity to discover the underwater world without having to resort to bulky equipment or possess particular skills as for classic scuba diving. The tour will allow you to explore some of the most characteristic seabeds of the Island of Ponza, between sandy and rocky environments, observing up close multiple species of fish, molluscs, crustaceans and other marine invertebrates. Accompanied by a biologist and certified snorkeling instructor (SSI), you will have the opportunity not only to spend time having fun but also to discover curiosities and information about coastal biodiversity and the ecological importance of underwater environments such as Posidonia meadows.
Recommended period: July to September.
