Sardinia, with its location on the Mediterranean flyway, is an important stop over site for migratory birdlife. The island, with its many natural and rural environments, boasts an exceptional biodiversity and is home to about 300 species of birds. This region manages to bewitch any nature enthusiast, thanks to a flora rich in endemisms, 41 species of mammals, 18 reptiles and 8 amphibians as well as a hugely diverse invertebrate fauna and, of course, breathtaking scenery!

Among the many species of interest are included Barbary Partridge, Greater Flamingo, European Griffon Vulture, Eleonora’s Falcon, Western Swamphen, Little Bustard, Audouin’s Gull, Marmora’s Warbler and Corsican Finch. Any period, however, manages to reserve surprises and unique emotions. Join one of the foremost ornithology experts in the area for a private birding day trip!

Here are some of our offers. These itineraries are designed for birdwatchers, photographers and for all nature enthusiasts and are fully customizable (if you have particular target species do not hesitate to tell us!).

Tour in the small wetlands of the north-west Sardinia (Stintino saltpans, Casaraccio Lake, Pilo Lake, Platamona pond) in which you could see a lot of species, in particular three of the must-see Sardinian species: Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), Western Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio) and Audouin’s Gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii).

Tour of the wonderful Sinis peninsula, the western part of Sardinia. A full-day trip exploring several lake, saltmarshes and satellite basin in which you could see quite all the species of waders, gulls, raptors (excellent opportunities to photograph Osprey) and ducks present in Sardinia. In this tour, you could also visit the museum of Cabras.

A short excursion in Porto Conte Regional Park that includes wonderful landscapes. Later we will go down south, near Bosa, to observe the European Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) colony. In this tour is also possible to visit Neptune Cave and Prigionette park.

Exploration of the central part of Sassari district, near Coghinas lake, looking for Little Bustard. This magnificent and shy bird during the spring period is more easily observable, during the male’s courtships. Later we sill move to Limbara mountain to spot two endemic species: the Bedriaga’s Rock Lizard (Archaeolacerta bedriagae) and the Corsican Finch (Carduelis corsicana), passerine present only in Sardinia and Corsica.

A boat tour along the seven-blue coast where is present a great colony of Eleonora’s Falcon (Falco eleonorae). The trip includes stops to swim and explore the caves and the wonderful pocket beaches of the area.
